Boston - Visits with family & friends and the USS Constitution

We arrived at Waterboat Marina on Wednesday 9/4/19 and were settled in to the dock by 7 pm.  Shortly after securing dock lines, I was down below and heard a funny sound, like someone with a roller bag coming down the dock.  I didn't think much of it until we went to bed later and I heard it several times again. The next morning when I got up and went out to the dock, it looked very different.  I was so confused until I realized we had docked at low tide and it was now high tide.  The wall next to us from last night was now level with the dock and I noticed the subway station right there.  Ahhhh, mystery noise solved!  The roller bag was actually the subway!

On Friday evening, we met my cousin, who is attending Northeastern University, for drinks and dinner.  It was fun to catch up on his activities and family news.  He mentioned that the subway station next to us was the last stop before the train went into the tunnel underwater to Logan Airport.  No wonder the train sounded like it was right under the boat!

On Saturday, we rented a car to run some errands, including grocery shopping and boat part shopping.  We drove out to Cape Cod to meet some friends for an early dinner, but unfortunately did not get to the West Marine store in time.  We thought it was open until 9 pm, but alas, when we got there at around 8, it was closed.

During our stay in Boston, we worked on some wiring projects such as the the lights in the bimini hard top.  On Sunday morning, we were working in the cockpit and heard a voice yell, "Hey, Joli!" It was the son of one of our friends who will be joining us on the Salty Dawg Rally to the Caribbean. He and his girlfriend live in Maine and were in Boston for the day.  They came aboard for a beer and then we all walked over to the USS Constitution.  It was a very fun day and we enjoyed visiting with family and friends while we were in Boston.  I got all caught up on laundry and we completed some boat work as well.
